Hawaii
Cows Getting Waterbeds
Wednesday, January 6th, 2010A dairy farmer on the Big Island of Hawaii has discovered that happy cows lead to increased milk production, and it turns out that cows are happier when they get a good night’s sleep. In a place where there’s little straw and sand to spare, bovine bedding has been burdensome, until now: The farmer plans to install 320 waterbeds for his cows. Evidence shows that the cozy digs result in cows producing 10 to 20 percent more milk.
