Culinary Institute Chefs Teach Maryland Teens

Thursday, May 10th, 2012

Some special guests stopped by the tables in culinary classes at a high school in Maryland recently. Turns out the guests were there to cook, not to eat. At the Center of Applied Technology North, in Severn, Md., master chefs from the Culinary Institute of America visited to share techniques and tips they’ve learned over the course of their careers. As a bonus, teens got to eat the curriculum.

“I love food in general. I do have a passion for it, and I love putting a smile on people’s faces when they see what I can do with food,” Jemischa Albo, a senior at the trade school, told WBAL TV in between bites.

Teen Chef Launches Catering Company

Thursday, July 14th, 2011

As a toddler, little Aaron Hodge would pick up the salt shaker, shout “Bam!” like his idol TV chef, Emeril Lagasse, then season his supper. Now 18, the Maryland teen chef is shaking up more than salt. He and his team placed in the top three in the state’s recent ProStart Culinary Student Invitational; he started his own catering company, Aaron’s Ambrosial Catering; he’s cooking at a country club, and getting ready for classes at the Culinary Institute of America.

“I’m totally focused on culinary arts,” Aaron toldĀ Janene Holzberg of the Baltimore Sun. “It’s captured my passion from the beginning.”
