Food Awareness Growing at UW Madison
Tuesday, February 8th, 2011A couple of years ago students and staff at the University of Wisconsin read Michael Pollan’s In Defense of Food. It seems the manifesto made an impact. These days, students grow organic vegetables and distribute them – for free – to their peers, foodies show their buddies how to cook, environmental studies classes examine sustainability, and Slow Food UW hosts weekly family dinner nights. And that’s just the beginning. Ruth Young, a junior at the school, explores the current world of food at UW in The Daily Page.
