The mention of Maine in our Main Dish: News of the Day story today reminded us of our favorite thing to eat there: chowder. We found a yummy chowder recipe that is flavorful but not too heavy, is mde from scratch and is done in less than half an hour. We’d toss into the mix at the start a crushed tomato or two if you have them around in the garden, and corn from a cob. If not, no worries. This fish chowder still tastes great.

Teen Wins Meals on Wheels Soup Contest
Thursday, August 9th, 2012Teens and Meals on Wheels are two groups that don’t usually travel in the same circles. But for Canadian teen Aleisha Pierce, 18, of Edmonton, Alberta, Meals on Wheels provided the opportunity for her to showcase her culinary skills. Aleisha won this year’s I Love Soup recipe contest, with her chicken, dill and cheese soup. The dish earned her a $100 gift card, a chance to train other cooks and a permanent spot on the menu of the Edmonton Meals on Wheels program.
